On Sacrifice

Sacrifice is love grown brave. Jesus said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must deny yourself, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” (Luke 9:23). That invitation isn’t about suffering for suffering’s sake — it’s about choosing what’s right even when it costs us something.

Christ defined love in terms of sacrifice: “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13). Most of us won’t face that moment literally, but we face it in smaller ways every day — choosing people over pride, compassion over comfort, and justice over convenience.

Righteousness doesn’t avoid the cost. It embraces it. When we sacrifice for the sake of love, we echo the heartbeat of Christ — the One who gave everything so we could rise.
